What you are charged, when, and how to stop.
The commercial side in one page: the moment money moves, how renewal works, how to cancel, and what we do when a purchase turns out to be the wrong one. The binding version is the terms of service; this page says the same thing in fewer words.

Buying
Plans are sold annually and the price on the pricing page is the price for a year. Prices are shown exclusive of VAT, which is added at checkout according to your billing address.
Community Edition costs nothing and always will. It needs a key like every other edition, and that key is free: create an account, take it, activate. No card is asked for.
Paid plans come with a 30-day trial of the full Enterprise feature set. Card details are taken when the trial starts and the first charge falls on day 31. Cancel before then and nothing is billed.
Renewal
A subscription renews automatically at the end of its term, at the same price, unless you cancel first. You are told before it happens rather than after: a renewal notice goes to the account's e-mail address ahead of the date, and the invoice follows the charge.
Adding clusters or frameworks to a key mid-term is charged pro rata for the remainder of the term, so everything falls due on the same day next year rather than on a calendar of its own.
Cancelling
Cancel from the licence page in your account. It takes two clicks, needs no e-mail to anyone, and no one will call you to ask why.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not cut the term you already paid for short: the licence runs to the end of the period, and the installation keeps every feature until that date. When the date passes it falls back to Community Edition and carries on under the free limits. Scanning, admission and evidence do not stop, and nothing you have already recorded is taken away.
Refunds
A licence key is digital content delivered immediately, so the statutory right of withdrawal ends once the key has been issued. That is the legal position, and it is also why the trial and the free edition exist: you can evaluate the whole product, in your own cluster, without paying anything.
We do not use that clause as a shield. If a purchase does not work because of a defect on our side, or you were charged for something you did not order, write to kapan@portiger.com and we will sort it out. Tell us the invoice number and what went wrong; you will get a person, not a form.
Where a refund is due it goes back to the card that paid, through Paddle, and takes as long as your bank takes.
Who takes the money
Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, acting as merchant of record. Paddle is the seller on the invoice, collects and remits VAT in your jurisdiction, and handles the payment details end to end. We never see or store a card number.
Invoices and payment methods live in your account, and Paddle's own receipts arrive by e-mail. Billing questions can go to either of us; anything about tax treatment or the invoice itself is theirs to answer, and we will pass it on if it reaches us first.
